Angelika has probably seen too many things for a 7 year old. Between the hearth where she lives henceforth, and the kennel where the dog of the family awaits her, she walks head high, courageous and with an heavy heart.
This short documentary, embracing the tempo of its fierce and strong-minded heroin, rejects all miserabilism. Rather than facing head-on the suffering of this child, the movie choses to place her in happy situations, even joyful, in her everyday life. But under that elated determination, the director disseminate the signs of a tough situation, the one of a little girl living on her own. While the psychologist, the only adult character in the movie, tries in vain to make Angelika talk, her dog, companion in misery, seems to be the only one to understand her and the only one able to share a little tenderness. Its box reflects Angelika’s foster care : at the same time, ultimate sanctuary and dead end of a future.
